The Graduate

What a handsome graduate!

Ryan Mullen, I couldn't be more proud of your accomplishment.  You've overcome every hurdle, and there have been many.  You didn't give up.

 You amaze and inspire me.

I'm excited to see our next adventure.

Camilla's 1st Birthday

Ryan was in class on Camilla's birthday evening so Camilla and I spent the evening celebrating alone doing this:

And then we spent the next 2 weeks doing this:

Poor sick Camilla.  Because I am a nurse, people overestimate my ability to emotionally handle a sick baby.  The problem is this...I know too much and the possibilities terrify me.  It's heart breaking to watch your little baby sick at any time, especially for 2 weeks.  I can't imagine what parents go through when they have a child with a chronic illness.

We had a little birthday redo on Sunday night when Camilla was finally feeling better.

The baby doll is a HIT!  She talks to her baby, reads her books, put her pacifier in her mouth and lugs her all over the house.

Camilla's personality has exploded over the past month.  She is now very engaged when reading books.  She wants to crawl up into our laps and settle in for a good read.  She chatters non-stop and laughs frequently.  I love to watch her learn, she just sucks everything in like a sponge.  She is very interested in doing things that we are doing...writing on paper with a pencil, feeding others (especially the dog), giving hugs, putting things away, climbing everything, talking on the phone, and much more.  She makes me more excited about all of the little things in life.

Camilla doesn't have any words yet unless you count, "Moo", "Meow" and "Roar" animal sounds.  She's getting pretty good at imitating them when we read books.  I keep trying to coax a "mama" out of her but she just smiles at me.

I've been trying to remember what life was like before Camilla.  Ryan put it well when he said, "Wow, we were so boring!".  She has made us happier than we could have ever imagined, she is our sunshine.  Camilla, you were well worth the wait.
