Finding Solutions

I've been snapping pictures of Camilla's adventures lately.  Last night I started making up a song for her "adventures".

The song was going to go something like this...

One the first day of Naughty Camilla my baby gave to me...a dumped out trash can.

One the second day of Naughty Camilla my baby gave to me...Pippi's food all over the kitchen floor.

One the third day of Naughty Camilla my baby gave to me...shredded toliet paper.

One the fourth day of Naughty Camilla my baby gave to me...a dismantled Christmas tree.

Camilla isn't naughty at all, she's curious, fun, sweet, wonderful and smart.  A very wise friend once told me that if something isn't going right, it's probably the parent that needs to change.  I took this advice to heart and devised a solution.

I hot glued velcro strips to the trash can lid.  That put a quick stop to the trash being emptied out all over the kitchen.  I also moved all ornaments to the top half of the tree out of reach.  I still need a solution to the dog food and toliet paper.  We almost always keep the bathroom door shut but she manages to still find a way to get the toliet paper in the 5 seconds the door happens to be open.

What kind of creative solutions have you found for your busy toddlers?

Ryan's Birthday

We celebrated Ryan's 32nd birthday this month.  Ryan always does a great job of making my birthday A BIG DEAL and his always falls flat.  Thankfully he doesn't ever mind and prefers a low key special day.  This year Camilla and I took him to the Hen House Holiday Celebration and it was a perfect way for my Mullen man to celebrate.  If you've never been to this event, it's basically: free food + recipe ideas + coupons for free stuff at Hen House = birthday fun.

We also stopped by Elspeth's grave site on Ryan's birthday weekend.  We attempted to celebrate Elspeth's 2nd birthday back in October but thanks to an unusually cold day and Camilla's cold we didn't get to spend much time at the cemetery.  We had a re-do on Ryan's birthday.  It was warm and beautiful.

I'm incredibly proud of Ryan.  He's getting ready to graduate from KU in just 3 short weeks.  He has overcome several obstacles, worked amazingly hard and has never given up.  I think his 32nd year is going to be the best yet!

11 Months Camilla

I have to hurry and get this post in because 11 months Camilla is almost 12 months Camilla!  It's been a blog-less month mostly due to a computer virus, another computuer virus and then one more computer virus.  Thanks to a techno savvy husband and the geeks at the University of Kansas IT department, I am back online just in time to tell you everything new about Camilla.

Camilla started walking independently at church on Sunday Oct. 21st.  There must be something about church that gets her little legs moving because she is always the busiest at church.  Camilla loves to talk on the phone.  Every time the phone rings she scrambles from all over the house with her whole face lit up hoping someone is calling for her.  Camilla loves to give hugs and slimy kisses.  She will run across the room and throw herself on top of the dog to give her a hug.  Camilla has also started to point at objects that she wants (which mostly involves the dog as well).  She loves to play peek a boo and she'll throw a blanket over her head and start laughing.   She babbles all the time but she hasn't had her first real words yet.  Camilla teases us by heading over to something/somewhere she knows she is not supposed to go, then she'll look back to see if we're watching her and start to laugh.  Her favorite toy is still the fire truck.  She has figured out how to climb aboard by herself and scoot around in the kitchen.  Camilla loves to help empty the dishwasher, especially the silverware section.  The funniest thing that Camilla has started doing though is fake laughing when she wants to be apart of the joke.

Here's some cute photos from October:

Camilla was a butterfly for Halloween.  We had a good time at the church's trunk or treat but we stayed in on Halloween night and answered the door.

Camilla and Pippi were matching butterflies for Halloween.

I can't figure out how to get this little video to not view sideways.  I need some blogging lessons, seriously.  Anyone have any tips on how to format my blog to make a different back ground design?  I have been trying to figure that one out as well with no success.
