31st Birthday

We did some fun things for my birthday, but it wasn't this which is what I've done for the past 2 birthdays:

The husband holds nothing back for my birthday.  This year I got to go shopping for some new clothes with my sister, dinner on the patio at our favorite chinese spot, and celebrating my special day with friends and chocolate cake made by the husband.

Some photo documentation of me NOT being pregnant.

This was attempt #1 at cake.  It was his first cake he's ever made and I was really proud of it even though it fell apart and was still dough in the middle. Unfortunetly, we didn't get a photo of cake #2.  It was beautiful and delicious!

The day before my birthday I came home from work and Camilla's legs and arms had markers all over them.  When I asked Ryan he said, "she found some markers and got the lids off!  I don't know what happened!?"  I racked my brain trying to figure out where I had inadvertantly left markers for my 9 month old baby to discover until I got my birthday card from Camilla. Ryan set her up on the kitched table under some newspaper and let her go to town with markers on a card.  They were the sweetest little scribbles I have ever seen.  I can't wait to get my first macaroni necklace!

Happy Birthday to me!

Camilla whacked her head on a pew at church a couple of weeks ago.  We spent the afternoon in Children's Mercy ER.

She was probably the happiest patient in the ER.  I was dying over how cute this little tiny hospital gown looked on her.

Some surgical glue and steristrips later we were home.

Some thoughts from our VERY minor hospital visit:
1.  I'm so thankful Camilla is healthy.  There are so many sick children in the world, I cannot imagine the worry and stress parents of children with prolonged illness experience.  I pray to never experience that pain.
2.  As a health care professional, I think that I could be more compassionate.  I've always thought of myself as a pretty darn good nurse, but I think I could always be better.  There's nothing like being on the other side to have some persepctive.
3.  Babies are amazingly resilient.  I need to take some lessons from Camilla on this one.

Marjorie

Welcome to the world Marjorie Ruth Clark!

Ryan, Camilla, Nona and I went to visit 6 day old Marjorie on 8/18/12.  She is beautiful!

9 Months

Some exciting milestones happened this last month.  Camilla started crawling on 8/15/12 and started cruising along furniture almost on the same day.  A week later on 8/22/12 she popped her first tooth!

This past month as a family we:

went swimming at the community center.

ate dinner out at Panera Bread.

and shopped at Costco.  Camilla has a thing about having her leg up in pretty much any situation...shopping carts, stroller, playing on the ground and even nursing.

Camilla loves to eat anything she can handle herself, especially fruit.  She will put a whole slice in, gum it up for a couple of minutes and spit the peel out.  My favorite part about this clip is her talking.  She is chattering more and more these days.

To say that Camilla loves the dog would be an understatment.  She follows Pippi around the house and pants with her tongue sticking out.  Don't worry she has only eaten 1-2 pieces of dog food so far.

Happy 9 months sweet baby!
